Money and the Fear of Success

Conscious mental blocks cause you to have a misaligned mind, or a mind that is out of control resulting in thoughts and actions that don’t match your intentions.

Here, I’d like to walk you through the conscious and subconscious conflict, particularly as it applies to money and success.

To begin, conscious and subconscious beliefs and fears must align. What happens when they don’t?

Our reality is generally a strong reflection of our beliefs. What happens when your conscious thought doesn’t align with your subconscious beliefs?

In working with clients and companies over the past 20 years, I’ve found this conscious/ subconscious conflict more times than I can count. Here’s a quick exercise for you to see where you lie on the conscious-subconscious belief scale.

Please answer the next two questions with either a yes or no:

  1. Do you think increasing revenues and increasing profitability for your company are generally good? At a conscious level, does most or all of you think that more revenue and more profits are good?
  2. Do you think that increasing your personal income and family income is generally good? At a conscious level you think more revenue and more profits is good.

Here, read a sentence up to the last word and immediately fill in the one word you’d end it with: “Money is the root of ________.

Fill in the last word.

  • Most of us would fill in the last word with the word “evil.” This indicates that in our collective unconscious mind, money is the root of all evil. Why is that? Perhaps we equate wealth with immorality; if someone is rich, that person became so by stepping on the little guy. In ancient times, the resolution to wealth was “charity” and by giving a substantial amount of their wealth to the less fortunate the lords, ladies and kingdoms were safe—protected by the Gods. Today in many religions and cultures money remains the root of all evil and if you make a lot of money, your subconscious belief might be something such as “The more money I make, the more evil I can become and may burn in Hell for an eternity if I’m not careful.”
  • Burning in hell for an eternity – now that could cause a subconscious block! We have seen this mental block over and over again. The good news is that once you realize you have it, it’s pretty easy to overcome. Because we ran into this block so many times, we decided to research it. The Bible has been translated in many versions and all of them say about the same thing. It’s in the book of Timothy where a verse says, “The love of money is the root of all evil.” That’s completely different from the saying that everyone knows.
  • If you know you are capable of much more and you keep hitting glass walls and ceilings, you can be pretty sure you have a conscious subconscious conflict, and if you can determine what your subconscious limiting belief is you can resolve the conflict freeing you.
